“It may seem counter-intuitive that Apple, which currently has no 5 G phones in its portfolio, will be able to pass current 5 G market leaders Samsung and Huawei,” said Ken Hyers, Director of Strategy Analytics.

“But with three new 5 G models coming next year, Apple only needs to match its existing upgrade levels for newly launched iPhone devices to take the lead next year,” he said.

Samsung is reportedly the unquestioned industry leader in 5 G smartphones.
